The perfect styling: tips for bride and groom

December 26, 2023 -

Finding the perfect wedding look is incredibly stressful for many people. But it doesn't have to be that complicated. Just think carefully about who you are and what suits you. The best, most fashionable look won't do you any good if it doesn't reflect you.

Tip No. 1: Use your location

If you need some help, definitely consider the location: Are you getting married on the beach, in the city, or in the countryside? Will the atmosphere be casual and rustic or elegant and classy? Outfit and styling can be perfectly tailored to the location. This way, everything stays consistent and conveys a well-rounded story. You've also likely chosen the location based on your preferences, so your personalities will already be reflected there.

Tip for the bride: Many women put too much thought into their hairstyle and makeup, so much so that they're almost unrecognizable on their wedding day. Hair is styled into large updos when it's usually long and loose, and colors are applied to eyes and lips that they've never used before. However, most women feel much more like themselves when they don't experiment too much. It's not about the most elaborate hairstyle; it's about feeling comfortable!

When choosing a stylist, make sure they give you good style advice. Good stylists won't just try to impose their ideas on you, just as they won't blindly listen to your ideas without consulting you. Of course, ultimately, it's up to you how you want to look, but you can recognize professional stylists by the fact that they give you honest and comprehensive advice. A trial styling session before the big day is always a good idea!

The same applies, of course, to consultants in bridal shops. If they don't have your type in mind, or if you're already skeptical about their own styling, you should start looking for a new shop. Basically, the same principle applies to all other service providers involved in wedding planning. Don't assume they know what they're doing just because they seem to have experience, when at the same time, they're clearly not a good fit for you or your concept!

Tip for the groom: The best suits can often be found in regular clothing stores. Bridal shops often only offer old and kitschy pieces that tend to look a bit overdone. Classic, simple cuts generally look much more beautiful and photogenic. Why not a linen jacket in summer or a tweed suit in winter? Not only is it comfortable, but it looks wonderfully authentic and chic!
